Legal DNA Test

A Legal DNA Test is a court-admissible DNA testing procedure used to verify biological relationships for legal purposes. This test is often required in cases such as child custody, child support, immigration, inheritance, and other legal matters where proof of biological connection is needed. The primary objective is to provide accurate, legally binding results through a secure process that meets all necessary legal standards.

Who Needs This Test?

Legal DNA Testing is often requested or mandated for individuals involved in legal proceedings, which may include:

  • Parents and children in custody or support cases
  • Siblings for inheritance or estate matters
  • Immigrants verifying family relationships
  • Grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other relatives in legal disputes regarding biological connection

Testing Process:

Our Legal DNA Test follows a strict chain of custody protocol to ensure that the results are legally defensible and cannot be disputed. The process includes:

  • Collection of samples: A trained professional collects the DNA sample, typically via a cheek swab, in a controlled environment.
  • Chain of custody: The sample is securely handled, documented, and transferred to the laboratory to prevent tampering.
  • Testing of samples: Accredited laboratories perform the analysis, providing precise and reliable results.
  • Results: A certified report of findings is issued, which can be presented in court or other legal proceedings.

Types of Legal DNA Tests:

  • Paternity and Maternity Testing: Determines the biological relationship between a child and alleged parent.
  • Sibling Testing: Establishes biological connections between siblings.
  • Grandparent Testing: Used when a parent is unavailable, and proof of relationship is needed through the grandparent.
  • Avuncular Testing: Determines if an individual is biologically related as an aunt or uncle.
  • Immigration Testing: Required for visa or citizenship applications to prove a familial relationship.
